My affinity with medicine informs every read. Coming from a medical family, I have always been comfortable with the language and culture of healthcare.

My father was an ophthalmologist whose leadership in injury prevention has preserved the sight of millions. My mother was a medical nurse, psych nurse, and now a gestalt therapist. My grandfather, uncle and great-uncle were surgeons; my grandmother and aunt were nurses; and another aunt and uncle were pharmaceutical executives. From dinner table to family gatherings, medical terminology, ethics and culture were simply part of the conversation.
